| I took these photos of the arch over Ft. Point, below the Golden Gate Bridge. Built between 1853 and 1861, Ft. Point was slated for demolition as part of the construction of the bridge. Chief Engineer Joseph Strauss recognized the uniqueness of the fort and had an arch designed and built to span the structure and allow it to remain undisturbed by the presence of the new bridge.
