WordPress has asked the question, What inspires you to blog?, and requested a photo of us engaged in that activity.
I began blogging to share my experiences as an electrician who has worked his way across the U.S. over the course of 44+ years. What I discovered was that I had a multitude of experiences and interests along the way that came forth from the shadows of my memory bank once I started opening up and sharing my life.
Photography and art have been passions of mine for years, but they were pushed aside for too long by work and lifestyle responsibilities. I am finding more time to indulge in those pursuits and it has added an extra shot of joy into my life. In short, blogging has given me a chance to connect with myself and share that person with the world.
The photo below was taken by my co-worker, Jim, in March of 2001. I have very few photos of myself and this one is one of my favorites.
Special Photo Challenge: Inspiration

Awesome photo … So true that blogging does allow one to connect with themself and share with others … So glad you do
Thank you, Jenn.
Wow, what an amazing place to get your photo taking, why was an electrician up there? I guess you aren’t afraid of heights.
The reason that I was up there that day was to replace the lamp in the cable outline light fixture. There are eight electricians altogether and we man the bridge 24/7/365 taking care of the Toll system, the Aid-to-navigation lights and radar and the many other systems that keep the bridge operational around-the-clock; and no, we are not afraid of heights.
Well…perfect photo for the challenge! I would never be able to stand up there though…
amazing view! amazing you! I hope wordpresss can spot this lovely photo .
Can definitely see why this shot might be a favorite. You described so well what probably inspires most of us bloggers.
Thanks, Gunta. I’m glad that I got it right.
Very nice photo of you! Seems like your on top of the world!
That is what it is like when I am up there.
What a fantastic shot – the perspective and the way the background is flattened out gives us an idea of how these heights don’t faze people with your special ability. You summed up so well why a lot of us blog…
Thanks for the kind words. I am glad that I was accurate about the urge to blog.
Wow! Cool shot.
I think that’s a terrific shot. What an amazing place to work.
It never gets old.
It’s a great shot your mate took of you Allan, and more importantly, responds to the challenge in an engaging way. Good on ya’
Thanks, Gene.
